How to Make A Jolly Santa
by Marjorie L Sallee
Get an Old Reader's Digest magazine, and fold the corners of each page from the top and the bottom allowing about one inch at the middle which is not part of any fold. Allow about an inch at the top and bottom of the page left unfolded, too. Do not break the binding of the magazines as yo go through this procedure.
Glue the front cover to the back cover, spreading the pages t form a circular body for Santa. Paint the exposed parts with red poster paint. You can paint the boot area with black poster paint.
Get a strong piece of cardboard and cut out “shoes” to glue o the bottom of Santa's body.
Then make a Santa face of of a round styrofoam ball. Add a beard made of cotton. Make a Santa's hat to put on the head. Try to make his facial expression look like “a right jolly old elf.”
You can also cut arms out of red construction paper if you wish to extend in a cheery hello.
Cut a big black belt from black construction paper and trim with a gold buckle. Paste this to the inch of unfolded paper all around his middle.
This is a project that the kids can help with and enjoy throughout the holiday as something they made.
