Family Christmas Game

By Betty J. Rucks

I started something years ago, when our children became 18 and on their own. I made up a Santa bag with ornaments, personal items, kitchen gadgets, jewelry for girls, after shave for guys, and then a can of veggies or fruit, took the label off and labeled it "What's for Dinner?'

Each one would shake the can to figure out what it was. This became a tradition and a good conversation topic. Then grandchildren couldn't wait until they were 18 to get a can minus a label. We've had a lot of fun with this. Each got a different item and this past year they all got the same, as fun thing to do.

Also in opening gifts one year, we would go by age, youngest to the oldest and the following year would be oldest to the youngest. Then we would take pictures of each with their gifts. Another time we put names in a hat and draw who goes first and so on. It was a fun thing.
