Doll House Rocking Chair

They couldn't wrap the rocking chair, so they bought a doll house sized rocking chair that they adorned with a bow and tag and hung on the tree. It was a very cool surprise and I kept the small rocking chair with my Christmas ornaments to hang on the tree each Christmas. A few years later, after I was married, I came home from work on December day to find our 5 month old lab puppy had chewed a number of the ornaments on the tree! One of them was the rocking chair. I was so bummed. My husband didn't understand why it was a big deal, but through my tears I told him of how my parents had given me the chair - that was sitting in the living room right then! Well he took a drive the next day, 40 minutes away to a town that had a store specializing in doll house furniture. He found another rocking chair and on Christmas morning it was hanging on my tree! I recount that story often as we decorate the tree. That was 19 years ago and I still think he was so sweet to find another rocking chair for me to hang on the tree. |
