Christmas Ornament Crafts:
Pine Cone Christmas Trees

When we think about homemade Christmas ornament crafts, we may visualize unprofessional, untidy decorations. However, if you try your hand at creating some homemade Christmas ornaments, you will be surprised at just how beautiful the results can be. Carefully put together handmade Christmas ornaments can actually add a really traditional and often chic feel to your holiday décor.

If you start to think of them as handcrafted Christmas ornament crafts rather than 'homemade' you will already start to feel differently.

It really is amazing how changing just a single word can make you think differently! Handcrafted really does have a more professional feel to it than 'handmade' and it is one of the tricks people who actually sell their creations use to market products.

The lovely thing about handcrafted Christmas ornaments is that you can make the ornaments as personal to your family as you choose, you are limited only by your imagination. Ornaments are a very cost effective craft activity, because they can be made using items readily available around the house and a few craft essentials such as glitter, paper, ribbons and glue.

Spending some time making ornament crafts is also a lovely family activity and is great for keeping children amused.

Pine Cone Christmas Tree

One example of some gorgeous Christmas ornament crafts you might want to give a try are miniature pine cone Christmas trees.

You will need some fully opened, dried pine cones which you can either collect yourself on a trip to the woods or can buy from many craft stores.

The pine cones should be painted green using acrylic craft paint or spray paint. Th add some sparkle you can dust the pine cone with glitter while the paint is wet, or wait until it is dry and use glitter glue on the edges. Once your pine cones are dry, glue them into an upturned bottle cap from a soda bottle. This forms the pot for your Christmas tree.

Once the trees are assembled, it is time to decorate!

You can use anything you like including crystals, beads, tiny craft bells or any other small embellishment. Again, one of the great thing about Christmas ornament crafts is that you can use whatever is available to you. You will probably need to use tweezers to dip your embellishments into glue and then firmly press them into place on the pine cone.

You now have lots of gorgeous miniature Christmas trees to decorate your home. They can either stand alone on any flat surface, or you add ribbon loops to allow them to hang from your Christmas tree.

This is just one of many Christmas ornament crafts that you can attempt, others include beaded ornaments, Christmas wreaths and so much more.

Merry Christmas!
