Christmas Ornament Crafts To Trim Your Tree

by Jenny
(MA)

Christmas ornament crafts are the perfect way to really dress up your Christmas tree and make it unique to your family.

While magazines and shop windows are filled with Christmas trees which are dressed in perfectly color coordinated ornaments and lights, sometimes a Christmas tree which is hung with various mismatched handmade ornaments can be much more beautiful.

A family tree which features handcrafted ornaments from several generations is a little glimpse of family history which should be treasured throughout the year.

There are various styles of Christmas ornament crafts which you could try your hand at in order to give your family Christmas tree a little special touch this year.

You can use items which are easily found around the home or which can be picked up at a local craft store to create beautiful Christmas tree ornaments. You could even turn it into a family activity or start a new holiday tradition.

The type of ornaments you can make is only limited by your imagination, most commercial ornaments are easily replicated using craft materials in your own home.

Christmas ornament crafts you might want to try out for yourself:

  • Cinnamon Stick Trees – Tie lengths of green fabric or ribbon in bows around a cinnamon stick, then trim the edges so that it graduates from wide at the bottom to narrow at the top. Add a loop of ribbon at the top and you have quick and easy ornament to trim your tree which also offers a warm fragrance for your home.

    These smell SOOOO good!

  • Embellished Glass Baubles – Take a box of tired, plain glass baubles from last year's Christmas tree and use craft glue to attach various embellishments to update them for the current year.

Embellishments you might like to try include glitter, ribbon, berries, pine cones and stick on gems or sequins.

  • Lace Snowflakes – Take a length of white lace and feed it onto a thin wire. Keep the wire as close to the bottom of the lace as possible. Gather the lace tightly on the wire and pull the ends of the wire together to form a ring. This will leave you with a snowflake like circle. Attach a ribbon as a hanger for the snowflake and use it to trim your Christmas tree.

Christmas ornament crafts can be a fun family activity.

Why not invite everyone over on Christmas Eve for a glass of eggnog and cherry pie while you all make tree ornaments together?
