Christmas! Happy Homecoming!

Having taught the lower elementary grades in public school, I was blessed to hear all manner of stories as told by my students. One such humorous tale was told in Reading Class by a first-grader who was delighted that her father had returned home from the Merchant Marines, the day before, just in time for Christmas.
"My Daddy brought me a new doll home for my doll collection. It is a dancing doll from Japan! We were so excited to see him since he had been gone for a long time--Mama said nine months. It seemed like forever to me! Anyway, us kids were so glad to have him back home, but Mama is real mad at him!"
(Teacher: "Why is she so mad?")
"Well, this morning when she got up to fix breakfast she was fussing at Daddy 'cuz he sweat all over her pillow last night!"
