Christmas Eve Morning Pot Luck

(Cal.)
Every year for Christmas I host a Christmas Eve morning pot luck breakfast. This is a great way for friends and extended family to get together, exchange gifts, and celebrate while not interfering with the events of immediate family.
We love spending the holidays with our friends and their children and this way we and they don't have to choose which dinner to attend or feel bad because they are opening presents or celebrating with their families.
I cook biscuits, gravy, waffles, bacon, and sausage and everyone else brings a side of some type of egg, pastry, hash brown, etc. We have even had breakfast pizzas brought by a friend.
Our children do a book exchange so its not gender specific and not costly and the adults get to kick back, relax, drink coffee, hot chocolate, cider, and even a little eggnog. We also allow the children to sing carols, and watch one Christmas themed movie. It's so fun sitting back listening to what they are hoping Santa brings that night.
This has also been a great time for parents that need to run pick up that last minute "Santa" gift to hurry out and grab it while I am cleaning up and the kids are still entertained with the movie and other activities.
We also try and have an interacting time where everyone goes around while we are eating breakfast and tells one of their favorite or best gifts they ever received and one of their worst.
We always have a prayer before we begin eating and try to remind everyone what the Christmas season is really about.
The rest of the day at our home we spend lounging around and baking cookies for Santa and of course leaving out some carrots for the reindeer too and watching holiday movies.
Around 8 we begin watching our local news. They are always broadcasting where Santa is and what time he should be arriving in our neighborhood. Then we rush off to bed.
After Santa has ate all his cookies, fed his reindeer, and left his goodies, we wake my son up to opening all his gifts. We usually don't wait until the sun comes up! Its usually around 3 or 4 am! My son opens everything he can except for his stocking, that has to wait until in the morning. Then we try and get a few more hours sleep in.
When we do wake up, we exchange family gifts before we get ready for our day of visiting grandparents. From that point we have Christmas dinner at their home and exchange gifts with them.
